TRIUMPH OF SPIRIT IN LOVE, NATURE & ART

Innocence Sacrificed

Scan3_edited-1

Newborn lambs

eat joyfully

and frolic freely,

 with abundant abandon

and love for life,

in utter oblivion

 of the upcoming holiday

for which so many will die.

      • While I can’t share your grief, I understand it and I can surely feel it from your poem. I admire your loving expression of it.

      • Thank you, Paul. Was just admiring and rereading the poem on knowing you posted today. Really clever but better, really true.

  2. Hi my friend-
Very sweet poetry. I am not sure how many people eat lamb at Easter. I know even with Passover most everyone I know doesn’t eat it. Perhaps in other countries that is the case though. Although I am not vegetarian, and go by the Biblical Dietary laws, I will always be a supporter of humane treatment of animals. They should have proper housing, grazing, and uthanizing. I can not support in any way how animals mostly farm factories treat those animals. I have volunteered with Defending Farm Animals and other such organizations. And despite it alll, I have to fight the desire to want to upt these people in cages and treat them as they do these innocent animals. Sickens me to the core.
    Sincerely

    • According to a sheep farmer I know (who ostensibly treats his sheep well except for docking their tales and who sends them somewhere else for slaughter), he breeds his sheep to coincide with Easter. Lamb is really big at Easter in the U.S. Not sure about for Passover. I am not completely vegetarian either, eating fish and ckicken and working on that. Oh, the factory farms and slaughter houses are hellish pits of cruelty in a supposedly civilized society, at least in the U.S.– dens of depravity of the worst kind. We can only fight back. I do online animal activism and donate much of my art to animal groups. I try not to think about the perpetrators of cruelty because they make me sick.

That is sad to me and something I did not know. I wasn’t aware lamb was that popular at anytime. Thank you for teaching me something I wasn’t aware of.

  5. Something to ponder about … I hope the animals do not suffer too much in their last hours. Thank you for caring so much for them!
