TRIUMPH OF SPIRIT IN LOVE, NATURE & ART

Swarms

265

The attack

not killer bees

nor locusts

nor hornets

nor any insect

but the contents

of the mind

Tied up in knots

not safe

not secure

not strong

not peace

Sick with

the plague of fears

negative thoughts

insidious

invidious

poison

killing  joys

bringing tears

of pain

and loss

and grief

The swarms cloud the sun

taking away the Light

and all it enraptures

attacking

the very source

of life

Love

  2. Each and every compact line packs a wallop. Superb. How did you ever get such a remarkable photo?

    • Thank you so much, dear Paul!! The photo is a landscape to which I added filters. My question to you is how do you manage to create so many poems each day? It amazes me.

      • Stuck in one chair all day long, I can only listen to so much music or TV. I still read about a book a week. For several years I built clipper ships and worked on my stamp collection. Then in January I started this blog. A few items are old poems I reworked here, but 90% of these are composed on the day I post them. I don’t think I can sustain the pace, though.

      • That’s amazing that you are so prolific and read a book a week, too! It shows in your work. Hope you can keep up the pace. You sort of answered my next question as to whether you wrote poetry all your life.

  3. Hi Ellen
It nearly made me cry. It flows so sadly beautiful like a song you know so well. The photograph adds much emotion to your words.
    Bless you friend

  5. Only today I found enough strength to come here and read about the ‘mind’.
Definitely something in the air. I noticed many people with the same negative intuition and projection of that on their minds.
I hope you feel better today. I had a good night of sleep, and feel OK now.
    But my backpack is heavy.
Can one remove bits and pieces from there, just like that?

    • Glad you feel better. Sometimes a new day erases yesterday’s problems. I find problems loom large at night. Perhaps what is interesting is that many people were feeling negative yesterday and then the U.S. had the terrorist attack at the Boston marathon. Also interesting that you mention your backpack– was that intentional? I can be very obtuse.

      • My backpack contains the bad memories from past and present relationships.

      • I know it is hard but maybe it is time to empty the back pack if you can. Easier said then done, right? But it must weigh down on you. The thing of it I say about 1000 complimentary things to my husband and what does he remember most vividly the few times I said something that hurt him or something unkind. I wish I could take back the times– we are talking about 20 years ago. Also I meant to say yesterday that someone saying maybe you need more freedom sounds like a desire to make you feel better and happier and to make things work. Or am I being a foolish optimist? I don’t think so– since I am a pessimist.

Mind swarms of fearful and negative thoughts are like a bucking bronco, hang on till the bronco stops bucking. All things are subject to change and especially thoughts.
Well penned poem about mind swarms, Ellen.
