“The Butterfly of the Soul”
“The butterfly of the soul must be freed to spread its wings of beautiful divine qualities… To the last day of your life, be positive; try to be cheerful.”

Oh that is just so lovely. I am a huge lover of butterflies, flowers all of nature. Using the correlation of freeing the soul is beautiful.

What I like about them Ellen is the soft and sometimes sad but always raw and beautiful spirit you have. If you didn’t have that, nothing you wrote would be beautiful.

Thank you but I didn’t write this. The great saint, Paramahansa Yogananda wrote this message. Now there was an ecstatic and highly developed soul!

Ellen I know you didn’t write that. I subscribe to many of Paramahansa Yogananda’s quotes and views. I was simply referring to the poems you write and your heart in general. I had reread your post on your husband not understanding your grief and loss and how he didn’t have a emotionally sharing family growing up. The words and ways you always present your heart is so poetic and allows me to sometimes cry for you, for your husband. What Paramahansa states is a separate issue. Sorry for the confusion.

Beautiful thought. I’d like to share another one by a renowned poet. I hope it’s okay with you.
The butterfly counts not months but moments,
and has time enough.
Time is a wealth of change,
but the clock in its parody makes it mere change and no wealth.
Let your life lightly dance on the edges of Time
like dew on the tip of a leaf.”

Thank you! I love Tagore! Yogananda is a beautiful poet and writer, too, as well as being a great saint. Thanks SO much for sending these words. You have sent me back to read my mother’s copy of Tagore. She loved Tagore as well. Perhaps it is the Sicilian blood but I feel such affinity for much of Indian culture. Or perhaps a past life.
