TRIUMPH OF SPIRIT IN LOVE, NATURE & ART

For the Love of a Horse

P1070852_edited-2

Oh to be one with you,

White-marked Third Eye,

to mount you

and ride you into forever

to nuzzle my nose

in your silky mane

to smell your hot breath

upon my face

and feel your tongue

upon my cheek

to smell the sweetness

of your leavings

and

hear your hoofs

against the road

and your snorts

as you run

*

my love for you

is from a distance

though once

we danced together

and

 you nuzzled

me out of depression

and into bliss

oh how I miss

those magic moments

when we were one.

    • I only had this experience a few times and will likely never again ride but I feel the love deeply and I guess you do, too. Thanks for sharing.

What a lovely poem, Ellen–I’ve emailed it to Deb’s daughter, who loves her Tuesdays with horses!

  5. Women and horses always have a special sensual relationship. I love horses, too, Ellen, Warmest regards Mitza

    • Yes, I have heard that said. But this was mostly a therapeutic relationship. I described the sensual but it was the sensual as an expression of the emotional. So you are another horse lover. My brother groomed horses and did therapeutic riding. My father lived for horses.

      • In America you have much more horses than here. They are so peaceful and calm, soft and also strong, very loveable animals. I never have been on a horse though.
