Windows into Worlds: The Lighthouse

A night of mania with no sleep

the wee hours on the computer

running on empty and

bordering on irascibility

my stirrings awaken my husband

How do you know it os mania that is keeping you awake?
Perhaps you are feeling the horror going on in Gaza.

    • Possibly. How can one not be aghast at all that is going on!

    • Really, Paul, yes it is beautiful. But I don’t think there is any indoor plumbing. Still it has its siren call.

  3. Beautiful poem. It takes you on a journey, to a mysterious land in the end.

  4. Beautiful. Am I not the only one struggling with manic (now depressive but still obsessive) symptoms? Take care of youself. Thank you once again for your artful use of language and image.

    • Thank you, Kitt, for your concern. I am both manic and depressed. Aside from forgetting meds, my husband had an asthma attack Fri. night and is still not feeling well. ANYTHING wrong with husband and wife goes over the edge. I hope you feel better real soon. And thanks for the compliment on the pix and sort of poem. Take care, Ellen

      • Mixed episodes are the worst. Yes, when the one we love is ill, it affects us deeply. Very unsettling. I hope for the best for both you and your husband. Does he have a nebulizer and albuterol?

      • Thanks for your understanding and concern. Seems like he was sick on top of the asthma attack and is feeling better now. He has albuterol but no nebulizer. He has a daily inhaler. It has been so d**** humid here that it is hard to breathe and he has the equivalent of one lung because of genetic defect and he helped a neighbor carry groceries up to the 6th floor on an airless night because the elevator was broken. I am trying to tell him he is not a kid anymore at 61!!! Will look up nebulizers. Thanks for the tip and for “listening.”

      • The last time a virus went to my lungs I had my allergist prescribe a nebulizer. It delivers a heavy dose of albuterol steam. Rx needed.

      • Thank you, Kate, good to know about. We’ll see. I am not dealing with a very compliant patient. But I will keep that in mind.
