Phantasmagoric Love
Out your mouth
come butterflies
fluttering all around the flowers
in the sunlight
Out of your nose
arises the scent of roses
a narcotic to the senses
And your embrace
exudes the air
of a crisp Spring day
with its smell of fresh earth
to be sown
Whilst stars fly
from your eyes
piercing mine
down to my soul
Your hair
the silky fur
of rabbit
against my skin
As your heart
beats out
a symphony
enveloped in
the aura of
scintillating sunlight
on a calm sparkling lake
I surrender to
your arms
in an eternal embrace
I am yours
in the land of forever

Beautiful, Ellen. I loved every word of this one. I pictured a cosmos that is the mirror image of ourselves, whose breathing out, seeing, and speaking is the Creation of all that we behold, but all of it was held within a knowing– a heartfelt intimacy. It was perfect with the image you captured, of stars reflecting stars…
Much Love

Thank you, dear Michael. Your response is itself a poem. And I am humbled by your words. This poem grew out of a direct influence of your ecstatic poetry on me. I am continually inspired by your poems and they taught me to “let go” and “free fall” into images. Yes, that and much more I have learned from your poetry.
Much love,
Ellen

This is wonderfully romantic Ellen, and the imagery, so evocative of love, quite exceptional. Many congratulations on this work. Hariod ❤

Actually, my father-in-law is doing well. One of my brother-in-laws is expected to die imminently of lung cancer. My husband just got back home from visiting him and is waiting for THE phone call.

Oh, sorry, I thought it was the f-in-law. My heart goes out to you and especially to your husband. I lost my brother to lung cancer almost 4 years ago. Very hard losing a sibling. You sort of know you are going to lose your parents but not your brother. Good that f-in law is doing better right now. You all have enough to deal with the brother-in-law and THE call. Glad he has hospice but as one of the other commenters mentioned, hospice usually does more than that!! We had hospice for my mother and that involved renting a hospital bed and other things as well. Prayers and hugs to you and your husband and the whole family, Ellen
