Away in a Manger
Unmistakable pride
in the smile
on the mother’s face
bonding with her
babe asleep beside her
in utter security
in utter trust
of their caretakers
unknowing of their future fate
at the bloody hand
of man.

Beautiful and touching, Ellen. For me, it is quite symbolic and timely that you chose the image of a Lamb in a manger…Dee

Oh, God, Genie. They were all adorable. I saw pictures everywhere. I was too busy snapping photos that I missed petting them. A farmer invited me at lambing time.
