Sir Paul McCartney on Animal Suffering

WARNING: This post is graphic in nature.  I have long debated whether to post it or not.  It features Paul McCartney speaking on the nightmare of slaughter houses and showing how animals are horrifically mistreated.  But if we subject animals to these horrors by creating a market for meat than the very least we can do is suffer the discomfort of watching a video showing how our meat comes to our tables.  Paul McCartney got me well on my way to being totally vegetarian which seems to be in the offing as I think more and more of any kind of meat as flesh of innocents.

Look at Little Black and Little White, How strong is their brotherhood! May you give unconditional love to all living beings! Look at Little Black and Little White, How strong is their brotherhood! May you give unconditional love to all living beings!

Do you spend time to chat with your parent?

If you are working and stay with your parent, most probably you might see them in the morning and evening.

If you are working and not to stay with your parent, most probably you can see your parent during weekend or long holiday.

Imagine, how lonely they are.

Every night, I’ll do my best to spend time to talk to my parent.

We are glad to have our 2 little Bodhisattva cats at home to accompany our parent while we are working.

Little black, the little kitten brought back by Little White, he is with us since young, we train him to be indoor cat.

Everyday, when we are home, mum will definitely share with us on what is happening…

Animal Ghosts

The documentary, “The Ghost in Our Machine,” follows photographer, Jo-Anne McArthur as she takes pictures to show animal abuse on factory farms and how animals are helped by sanctuaries like Farm Sanctuary.  It is a disturbing film but an extremely important one.  We must rethink how we contribute to the cruelty inflicted upon dogs, cats, foxes, minks and farm animals.  Please watch the trailer below.  Jo-Anne McArthur has a book of her photographs and writings called, “We Animals.”

Away in a Manger

Scan2_edited-3

Unmistakable pride

in the smile

on the mother’s face

bonding with her

babe asleep beside her

in utter security

in utter trust

of their caretakers

unknowing of their future fate

at the bloody hand

of man.

White Flowers in Blue Trees

White flowers in Blue Trees

My husband pronounces this a cow

standing among greens

well if it is a cow

don’t eat him

he is a sacred cow

as we all are sacred

I see him standing among the brush triumphant

for no one has turned him into hamburger

but

I say they are blue trees

at twilight

filled with white blossoms

well if they are blossoms

don’t pick them

and extinguish their life of beauty

grabbing Nature

as if She were our own

meant to serve us

when She is there to teach us

about the Great Being

benevolent with His gifts

such as blue cows

or blue trees with white flowers

as Nature whispers in our ears

as She manifests the gifts of the Great Being

and we boorishly

 cut them down

and put them in vases

(if I am right and they are blue trees with white flowers)

where in a day or so they die

having given their lives

for the mundane, bourgeois folly

of decorating our homes

or

(if my husband is right and they are cows)

 we boorishly eat them

despite the disgust of eating flesh

at the expense of deaths by extreme cruelty

a travesty of justice

crimes against Nature

when She is to be untouched

and admired

just as She is

for She is the perfect

creation of our Heavenly Father.

The Haunting

P1080675

The haunted look

in the eyes

the plastic tags

in the ears

the bit of grass

in the coat

of a tender soul

behind bars

*

One day

the haunted

will arise in glory

their souls ablaze

with triumph

*

One day

 we will pay

our dying hearts

 haunted

by the very souls

 hunted

by the likes of us

Innocence Sacrificed

Newborn lambs

eat joyfully

and frolic freely,

 with abundant abandon

and love for life,

in utter oblivion

 of the upcoming holiday

for which so many will die.

You look at me

and see hamburger,

filet mignon,

roast beef au jus.

But I am a mother/father/sister/brother.

I look at you with curiosity,

and innocence

and in the end

I will be betrayed.

But I don’t live on a factory farm

so I don’t know that yet.

I offer the following short short video by Paul McCartney for educational value.  I leave the option whether you want to view it to you.  It contains graphic and upsetting images but meat eaters should know how the meat comes to their plate and how factory farms operate.  Taking pictures of farm animals and this video made me stop eating beef, pork and lamb– am working on eliminating chicken and fish.
