      Well, I found similar open air markets in Italy and France and people there buy fresh produce everyday. I may be wrong but I think grocery stores are very American.

        I just asked my husband who lived in Syria and Egypt long ago and he said there are supermarkets abroad and even in the Middle East but they also have open air markets. So I was wrong. But do you have farmers markets where you live?
