What a lovely drive through the countryside in the middle of winter, Ellen! Millbrook looks like an enchanting place for all seasons.

Millbrook was an enchanting place, and yes, in all seasons but Fall was totally spectacular. I hope it is still as beautiful. We were surrounded by wealthy properties and were the poorest house on the block by A LOT and our wealthy neighbors cut down trees and did lots of so- called “improvements” which led to habitat loss for the animals, resulting in more bear encounters. It was very wild with coyote, bobcats, fishers, snapping turtles… all sorts of wild things. I hope things haven’t been manicured too much but that’s life. Glad you saw the beauty of it!

So glad you enjoyed it. Beautiful trees everywhere. But people cut them down to make home “improvements”!! There was habitat loss in the short time I was there. I hate to see what has happened since then. That’s one reason we never went back.

You know, I don’t blame you. I wouldn’t go back either. Far too upsetting. But the video was just wonderful. Thank you so much.

This was a lovely trip you took us on today and just what I needed after this unbelievable week. The trees and even the telephone poles looked pretty, covered in snow and I like the fact that your husband, Thomas stopped every now and then, so we could all see the white blankets covering the fields. 🤍❄️

Hey, Julie, good to hear from you… yes, quite a week. So glad you enjoyed the drive. Actually one stretch that looked like a snow-covered field was a swamp, iced over and snow-covered. That was my husband’s favorite spot… often a place to spot turtles in the summer. He always stopped there. And the other stop was a vineyard with a spectacular view of the sky and distant mountains… one of the best views in Dutchess County I was told. A great place to capture sunsets. I wish I had done a better job of filming those spots.

Thanks so much, Julie! You’re a swamp lover, too! We lived in the wetland area of the mountains so, yes, many magical creatures.

I’m not a fan of winter, but this video was pretty awesome.
