I had to work that one out Ellen – I had no idea crickets were also known as Katydids.

Well, I checked and they are known as Bush crickets also and this was a Katydid indeed.

saw one of those y’day, and was ablee to make a pic while it tried to bite the camera. Quite large: 6cm.

I quote wikipedia: “Tettigonia viridissima: … This grasshopper can bite painfully but it is not particularly aggressive. It is better to avoid holding the insect in the fist, because the bite is almost assured ….” 🙂
