The Secret Life of Plants
Well, things didn’t quite work out as positively for the world of man or plants as this video suggests at the end. I hate to think how the plants are really hurting now with what is going on with climate change and the desecration of forests and millions and millions of plants in the name of development. The sensitivity of the plants is so amazing, suggesting yet another facet of creation that mankind is destroying.

I agree with the plants who register annoyance at tobacco smoke. Thanks for the very interesting video. 🙂

Interesting video and a lot of food for thought, Ellen. It’s so sad that humans have little respect for most of our natural resources.

OMG I knew they had feelings and communicated but now I feel terrible about eating salad or doing anything to my plants. So awful. Poor things. I try to take care of mine, but not I’ll do even more. I’m not sure what to do now.

I admire your caring! You have to eat plants. Even the religious leaders from India say that, but you can do do with kindness. It is great that you don’t eat animals. We still eat fish and the occasional chicken. I feel badly about it but have to feed my underweight husband. Actually that’s no excuse. And I really feel badly about it. It is flesh. I am disgusted by it and with myself. I may get there one day.

We all have to do what we can and what we feel is right. My daughter, granddaughter and I are vegetarians. My daughter and I have been animal rights activists for so many years I can’t count them. But the groups are not demonstrating any longer, so we haven’t been in the streets protesting for a long time. I just love animals and would do anything for them. I also love plants, my house is full of them, but now I feel bad about eating lettuce. Sigh. I guess I could live on chocolate, but then again, maybe not, although I eat enough of it that it might be possible. 🙂 The thing is, we all have to be comfortable with ourselves and eating animals, or wearing leather, etc., is not something I can personally live with. I do the best I can and that’s what we all do. People should also know who bad meat is for people. All the antibiotics and chemicals the poor animals are shot up with and not only that, but when they are ready to be slaughtered, their fear pours chemicals of terror into them, which people end up eating, and that’s terrible for a body. It’s a sad and horrific thing we do to the innocent beings we are supposed to protect and love. I eat bread and pasta with plain sauce. It’s good but now I’m thinking about how the tomatoes feel

I am so sorry I posted this and made you feel badly, Gigi. Now you feel rotten about eating plants. Well, I read that even the all of the gurus of India that I have heard say that you should eat plants– but treat them with kindness and be gentle with them when you pick them. And when you have to trim them, you squeeze the cut to make it better. Things like that. You might thank them for their life. I think the Native Americans do that. Anyhow…
Gigi, you are great to be a vegetarian and not buy leather and meat! Really, I admire that. I think I can get as far as pescatarian while I am married to my husband. Oh, I know all about the fear hormones of terror are in the meat. Have read Temple Grandin about her understanding of animals in slaughterhouses and how she redesigned them to be kinder and less fearsome. Am an armchair PETA and others activist after having our dog and then saw the film on slaughterhouses Paul McCartney made, got hysterical and immediately stopped all red meat and pig and such. After seeing a lambing one Spring, I stopped lamb. It is a slow process. I stopped buying leather and now wool, too. I think I can get by with just eating fish. Of course, it would be better not to. I know… it’s meat without feet. When I was single I ate cheese and oj and a lot of pasta. You are great, Gigi. It inspires me to go the extra mile. Please just be gentle with the plants and shower them with gratitude. I am going to do that, too. I forget about doing that. Sorry, Gigi.

I agree that not only people and animals suffer, but also plants. Some plants are so unbearable that they are trying to disappear from our planet, and we stubbornly preserve them by creating the Red Book.
I hope that we will not be able to change the world in such a way that it will lead to the collapse of our civilization. I want to believe.

This was fascinating. But then, why do we ever wonder about the quality of life period–no matter where we find it? We’ve lost respect for most of this world other than ourselves. We rarely truly care for people anymore. Thanks for this insight.

Well, it doesn’t sound wonderful if you not going to eat your veggies– you need them– especially as a vegetarian. I tried to find info on Google and found one statement that while plants can feel they don’t register pain as animals do or as we do. I tried to copy and paste but I couldn’t. I remember looking this up for my own benefit but can’t find anything tonight. Anyhow thanks for saying it was good to post. Please don’t give up your fruits and veggies.

So Gigi, I know you are now worried about eating plants. I saw this on Quora (if you are familiar with that site which sometimes has interesting things). So it is written by Nitika Jain with an M.A. in Biology and she addresses your concerns. I copied and pasted the following…
If plants are living things then why we eat them? (She answers)
people eat animals also…. but vegetarians eat plants for many reasons:
1 they dont have nervous system so they cant feel pain. they dont have flesh or blood.
2 we eat plant products that are meant to be eaten so that seed can dispersed and that helps in spreading plants species.
3 grains like wheat and rice or any other grain, they dont have living cells. they are madeup of many nutrients mainly starch and dead sclerenchymatous cells.
4. we dont kill the entire plant to eat its fruit.
5. annual plants like food crops they complete their life cycle in one season, only after the completion of their life we eat them.
Hope this helps you eat that tomato and lettuce.

Namaste Ellen. Good evening to you.
Watched this video carefully and seen the reactions recorded in the polygraph or similar detector. This type of experiment, I have studied in a book. Right now, I cannot remember the name of the book and writer. The idea that plants can distinguish between positive and harmful interactions, as well as respond to external stimuli, introduces a realm of inquiry into the mysterious lives of organisms that diverge from our traditional notions of consciousness. While these notions provoke wonder and curiosity, they also beckon us to approach such ideas with a balanced blend of open-mindedness and critical analysis, acknowledging the boundaries of our current scientific understanding.
This video teaches us a lesson. We must take care of plants suitably.
Thank you so much for sharing this video.
Regards.

Good evening, Arun. It is late morning here in New York City. Thank you for your comment. You are the only one I know who knew about these experiments with plants in Russia. I had read about the experiments long ago, while pursuing studies on altered states of consciousness. And have thought about it over the years and then just found this YouTube video. My father used to talk to his office plants and they flourished. He used to talk about flowering giggling when it rained. Anyhow we must treat them kindly. They are sentient beings that we eat. But I also read that they don’t suffer pain as animals do so it is okay to eat them. I wonder if people really know what the real deal is. Anyhow glad you liked it. Something to ponder and try to adjust in our behavior. Take care and thanks for writing. Namaste!🙏🏽

Thank you so much for your comments and replies. Initially, when I had read that book, I would find the book. It is with me. I believed that immediately.
It is very astonishing that your father had established a holistic bond with the plants in his office. Everyone will not understand this.
In India, we know about the scientist Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose, whose legacy lives on. He laid the foundation for later generations of scientists to explore the depths of plant life and pushed the boundaries of conventional scientific thought. His research underscored the richness of life forms and the interconnectedness of all living beings, bridging the gap between the known and the mysterious in the natural world.
Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose, a pioneering Indian scientist, occupies a revered place in the annals of scientific history for his groundbreaking research on plant life and their inherent capacities. Born in 1858, Bose’s work not only challenged conventional scientific thinking but also bridged the gap between biology and physics.
Some towering trees in India’s cultural environment have a holy meaning that goes beyond their size as trees. The banyan tree, a representation of sagacity and knowledge, is one of these renowned giants. A community is protected by its expansive canopy, which recalls the concepts of continuity and connectivity revered in Indian tradition. These sacred trees serve as live representations of the spiritual ethos that permeates the nation’s heritage in addition to beautifying the surrounding environment.
Therefore, we must treat them well. There is a lot to say about plants. But it will be a lengthy one.
Have a wonderful day. Enjoy this Sunday. It is now 20:47 in India.
Namaste Ellen.
Arun.🙏🙏

Namaskaram, Arun ji, thank you so much for referring me to a text. I bought it for the Kindle on my phone for free and found the passage with Clive’ Backster’s experiment with the plants. I recognized his name but I heard about it elsewhere. This book looks really good and like something I want to read. I am not too well at the moment so maybe tonight I will look at some of the chapters. Many interesting ones. I seemed to have had emails from you which disappeared so if I don’t react to something, please understand I lost the email. I think you offered to send a PDF file. Thank you but now I have got the book.
It is not SO strange that my father talked to plants and heard them giggle in the rain. Many people here are in tune with their plants. Not as much as he was. But my father, although quite strict, had a very soft side.
So I can’t answer the emails I lost. It is just one of those “off” days. I thank you for your kind offer of the PDF file. But now I have the whole book which looks delicious🙂 This will be a diversion from Kamlesh Patel but I should read your book first. After spending a few years following Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev I need to get used to Patel’s humble style. Anyhow bahut, bahut dhanayawaad! 😁 I know a few Hindi phrases… if you speak Hindi. Took a few Hindi lessons. I don’t know the difference between Namaskar and Namaskaram. I think one is the formal language. Oh, so sorry for all this jibberish. Many thanks, Ellen

Thank you so much dear Ellen for your lengthy reply 🙏
Namaste, Namaskaar, Namaskaram all are the same.
So far I know, Namaskaram is used in the southern part of India.
Namaste in Hindi belts. And Namaskar in general. And this is “regards” in English 🙏
Very happy to know that you have purchased the book Our ultimate reality ”
It is a unique book. Covers diverse topics and is amazingly simple to understand Quantum Science and Eastern philosophy.
I was highly influenced by one article published as a paper in the name of *Quantum Matrix*
Very concise and full of knowledge in about 45 pages. Thereafter I bought the book on Kindle. Also managed the PDF format to share with others.
I always try to share good thoughts and knowledge with others because what Joy I get must be shared.

Please send me a hello 👋.
You are on the right track. You have inherited some special interest in the path of wisdom. Your father had an extraordinary talent to understand the language of plants. This is higher level consciousness. With higher level consciousness one can connect with nature, the manifestation of Whole, The Brahman.
Enjoy your reading and share views to the world.
I wish to see your email.

Thank you so much, Arun! 🙏🏽 You have a great mind and have read so much and incorporated it into the Self. I have to take baby steps. Thank you for sharing your gifts. For now I will read the book you suggested and Kamlesh Patel (Daaji). My body is sending me messages not to eat. So is my mind which is very concrete and limited. Thank you so much! 🙏🏽 Ellen

Your mind will be so powerful. It will not be limited and concrete.
Just a matter of time. This Whole Universe was a “point of singularity”
Same is vast. Expanding.
So is your mind.

Thank you for the hope and good wishes. I have been doing lots of reading. NOT like you!!!! But a lot for me. I have decided to follow Kamlesh Patel. Daaji. He is very low key and calming. I believe he is the fourth in line of Raja Yoga. I am following him. I cannot say more and when I feel better I will tackle the book you suggested… the name of which escapes me at the moment. I have to go slowly and calmly. I cannot take any input at this point. Thank you.🙏🏽

Chapter 18 of this book, is on “The Planes of the non-human mind”
Here is the description of the experiment made in 1966 by Cleve Backster, with a lie detector on a Dracaena plant ☘️, also known as ” Dragon Tree”
This is just for information only.

Thank you for looking for and finding the book. I don’t have it. Do you suggest I read it. Sounds very interesting. I looked it up and got for free as a Kindle on Amazon so I will look into it. Yes, I recognize the name Cleve Backster😊 and the description but I want to read it again. Thank you so much. I appreciate your research. Sounds like you sent something but I can’t find it.
