Souvenir
Shimmering yellow green
scalloped Ginko leaves
fluttering in the breeze
Soon you will fall
and that will be all
that is left
of summer…
a souvenir

Lovely Ellen. The lemon-lime time of the leaves is so short. It’s nice to have your poem, to ponder on it a little bit longer. 💛💚

Ellen, thank you for the lovely video. I have always been fascinated by ginko trees, and your video brought back pleasant memories of life in DC. Ginko trees were planted along the street near UDC, where I was working on my teaching degree.😊

Absolutely superb! Your poem captures nature’s fleeting beauty with such elegance — the shimmering ginkgo leaves become living souvenirs of summer. Fantastic imagery, awesome rhythm, and a soulful reminder of how seasons carry memories in their fall. Truly a masterpiece that lingers in the heart!

A golden pressed leaf between the pages
A memento from a season passed
Now I think on it awhile
As a stare out through frosted glass
