Turtle Tears

It is before dawn on a moonlit night.  The moon has swept the trees and grass in silver.  I await the sun.  The moon wakes me to whisper about the silent beauty of the predawn hours.  The yard is white magic and I imagine a monarch butterfly now sleeping,  awaken to find a turtle to drink its tears. Monarch butterflies drink turtle tears.  Why are the turtles crying? They cry for the ailing earth.  They cry for those who suffer.  They cry for the dying.   They cry for those striving to become one with all.  They cry for the sap in the trees flowing.  They cry for the animals who are constantly on guard for their lives.  They cry for the bird egg which will not ever hatch.  They cry for the dying stars in an ever expanding universe.  They cry for the unawareness of the high and mighty.  Turtle tears are like diamonds sparkling in candlelight. like dew drops on a drooping Lily of the Valley.  Come now to drink my tears, dear Monarch.  Your beauty gladdens my heart.  Your heart drops manna from the heavens into my soul.  Come now, dear Monarch.  Come lick the dew drops in my eyes.

“My Eyes are Leaking”

The world a watery blur

one less source of joy and laughter

on this ailing earth

a delight to so many

in so many ways

“My eyes are leaking”

Fears

In tears fighting fears, I prayed to God to speak to me and he did, moments later, through the beautiful words of Dennis Ference, at Merging Traffic

Merging Traffic

battered and bullied
by fears that rage and roar
let us trust that we are
bigger than our fears
let us know that we are
so much more

The Reign of Pain

RSCN3363_edited-1

Tears, years, fears, pain, pane, rain, car, far, are you there, somewhere?

I can’t hear you.  I can’t see you.  I can’t feel you.  Any more.

Why did you have to die?  Why did you have to go?

Your kids bleed for you, you know.

Your wife aches for you, you know.

I pine for you, you know.

Your absence is our has been.

Attachment our sin.

And in this reign

of pain we fail

we ail

each in our own ways.

It may be a thin veil

 that divides our souls but

why then does it feel like an iron curtain

 creating the great divide

between our being and your nothingness?

(Written for the three year anniversary of my brother’s death.)

The Leaf Devoured

P1110651_edited-1

Water droplets magnify

the verdant veins

 through which

the life giving  blood flows

through which

the life giving source

that keeps

giving life

 keeps

life going

despite the wear and tear

of an alien attack

by a catapulting caterpiller

that offers another creature

 a world within world

in which to live.

Despite

bitten tears,

bitter tears,

the leaf will live green

through the summer

and then shrivel to crimson,

life blood draining

and it will cry no more

as it drops dead

from the branch

where it lived

for a few short months.

Blossoms of Heartbreak

Teardrops/raindrops

upon the nascent leaves

of spring weeds in the marsh

a chance april shower

the brimming overflow

falling from red, watery eyes

007

 Dreadful is death

most of all in spring

our Dearest dying amid booming, blooming life

and Spring sprinkling

blossoms of heartbreak

on our final goodbye.
